TRANSFIGURATIONS
Stone lithographs on Pescia paper, 2021 - 2023.
Continuing from an internship project at the RISD Museum, Transfigurations are morphed amalgamations sourced from drawings of the human body found in museum collections. With this project, the act of breaking the body into singular pieces, pieces that for one reason or another I felt drawn to, and forcing them together in a way that was both aesthetically pleasing and monstrous, was my own way of reconciling what I saw in collections and art historical scholarship with what I didn’t see. In this series, I create implicit but identifiably queer forms that better speak to my own lived experiences, while still in conversation with artists of the past.
